Trustees and Volunteers

Kevin Hoines - Trustee and Chair

Kevin is now retired, he moved to Lyme Green ten years ago and became involved in a variety of community projects.
Kevin is a volunteer for Pets As Therapy and an assessor. Pets As Therapy volunteers do not visit people in their own homes, Kevin, with other PAT volunteers will encourage residents to come and say ‘hello’ to their dogs in the park once the regeneration is complete, these sessions providing opportunities for residents to meet others, improving social interaction, health and wellbeing and addressing issues of social isolation and loneliness.

Kevin is also involved in the improvements at Cop Meadow park, Sutton.

Ben Smith - Treasurer and Trustee

Ben is an Account Manager for a global energy management company. He has lived in Lyme green for over fourteen years, with his two boys. Having used the park for many years during his boy’s younger years, he realized that the park was far from what it had been and not suitable for the next generation of users. With this in mind, he joined the Park4All group to regenerate the park for future generations to enjoy.

Angela Hurst - Trustee and Secretary

Hi, I’m Angela Hurst and have lived on Robin Lane for 25 years. I grew up in Sutton as my parents ran The Lamb Inn for many years (June & Denis O’Donovan) and have great memories of using the local parks and surrounding countryside. I don’t think I realised how privileged we were at the time and just want to try and help the next generations have the opportunities to make many, many great memories in our fabulous village. Together with just having a lovely space for all to enjoy – the views are fabulous. I first got involved with Park4All with the Jubilee Party and was honoured to be asked to join the Committee to help carry on all the great work that has already been achieved. I use the park most days with Dolly, my very spoilt Staffie-Cross and when my grandkids and great nieces come to stay its always a trip to the park and they love it.
I work full-time for a publishers based in Macclesfield and besides dog walking I love a Gin – my parents taught me well – my bar is always well stocked.

Cyril Benson - Trustee

I’m Cyril Charles Benson, I’m 70 years of age. I’m retired and I spend my days chasing endorphins whether it be through swimming, running, cycling, walking in the countryside, making friends with the mountains of North Wales and beyond, and with gathering the smiles I get within my volunteer work.
I’m a jack of all trades, and in my past paid working capacity I was a factory manager wearing many hats for my ‘big head’ and also a timber yard manager. I’m also a certified sports personal fitness trainer, cognitive and nutrition coach.
I wear my heart on my sleeve and I look at the world through ‘Rose Tinted Glasses’. My humour is awful, but I love to see people find their happiness. It’s a corny thing to say, but I try to follow the principals of the “Circle of Life”, in that I respect all living things so that nature can follow its natural course and make a beautiful world for us all to live in. My dad taught me this “Charity begins at home”, because if you look after your children and family and after that be kind to others then your children will do the same thing when they grew up.”

Brenda Griffiths - Trustee

I moved to Lyme Green in 2013, my interests include, art, crafts and photography.  I’m also in two drumming circles, Middle Eastern Doumbek and African djembe.
I have two daughters and 5 grandchildren.
I think the Park is a wonderful project and a huge benefit to the community.

Carol Eardley - Trustee

Carole has lived in Lyme Green for more than 20 years.  She retired six years ago having spent much of her working life in administrative roles. She is looking forward to seeing Lyme Green Park becoming a place of enjoyment for all the community.

Volunteers

We have many volunteers of all ages and abilities who give up their time to help make Lyme Green Community Park a superb open space.  The park encourages social interaction, the development of new friendships, provides a safe place for children to play, facilities for wheelchair users, the disabled and those with limited mobility, which helps to tackle the issues of social isolation, loneliness and childhood obesity.

Our volunteers plan and run community events, look after our web site, undertake various gardening maintenance tasks whilst growing vegetables, herbs and fruit.  They keep our numerous picnic tables and benches clean, re stock our community library and feed the birds in our wildlife/sensory area, plus lots, lots, more.

In spring of 2024 volunteers from Cop Meadow Enhancement Group will join the volunteers from Park 4all @ Lyme Green CIO to create a large wildflower bed along part of the boundary fence.   ANSA Environmental Services will provide the specialist help to prepare the ground free of charge.
