Park 4all @ Lyme Green https://www.park4all.co.uk/ COMMUNITY UPDATE JUNE 2020 Dear neighbour, We hope this leaflet finds you safe and well, given the current circumstances. You may have noticed the improvements in our local park since the last update. The majority of the currently funded work was scheduled to be completed by Ansa Environmental Services (Ansa) in spring of this year, however, the extreme wet weather caused a number of issues and delays. When the lovely weather did arrive Ansa were faced with the current crisis in the country and had to deploy staff on other council duties. We have now been informed by Ansa that they hope to re-commence work towards the end of July with completion in early to mid-September. You may have seen that so far work has been undertaken on: – Infrastructure – pathway along the perimeter of the park leading to the different stations – Drainage – Fitness stations and some seating When work recommences the existing work will be completed with the following new works being installed:- Sunken garden and entrance pathway – interpretation board, friendship benches and welcoming entrance designed by our talented local artist Jennie Pardon – raised beds with vegetables and fruit – picnic tables – play trails on pathway – wildlife garden – outdoor library – further seating – fruit trees, tool store and MUGA pitch marking HOW YOU CAN HELP Whilst we have been successful in obtaining funds for the above items to improve the community space for everyone, we have yet to secure moniesfor the children’s playground (£39,346.15) and sides to Multi Use Games Area. (£19,330.89). We applied for two grants earlier this month for the majority of these amounts and are hopeful to receive them. However, even if we are successful, we will still need funding to complete the playground by applying for smaller grants, seeking sponsorships from businesses and by organising fundraising events within the community. The fundraising commenced prior to ‘lockdown’ had managed to secure nearly £2,500. However, we would like to hear from anyone who can get involved in helping to raise the funds for the much needed play equipment for our children. Trustees and volunteers have had some thoughts for events that could help with financing the playground. These include: a car boot sale, community disco with tunes from lockdown, sponsored walk with children, book sale from your drive, dog sponsored walk, treasure or detective hunt for children, auction or raffle. Do you have any other ideas? Could you take a lead and organise any of these or your own fundraiser? All funding application success depends on the proof of community involvement. What better way to demonstrate this than to get together and raise at least part of the money for the play equipment. One idea being explored is that of a ‘front garden sale’. Residents could set up a stall in their front gardens selling their own items, making a contribution to the park, or, possibly donating all the proceeds to the park fund. We could also provide community supported stalls, i.e. crafts, plants, refreshments, ‘Nick’s Music’ with ‘pay for a tune,’ a ‘White Box Auction’ of donated items, minimum value £10 – could you donate something? Lots of potential for a great community event and to raise money. Or you can make a personal donation via our web site https://www.park4all.co.uk/donate. Lastly, a huge thank you to all who came and supported the CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING EVENT in December 2019 to raise phenomenal £620!!! Please get in touch by E-mail: lymegreen@park4all.co.uk or, drop a note through the letterbox of 10 Lyme View if you feel you can help.
November 2019
In November 2019 the Park 4all @ Lyme Green group was registered with the Charity Commissioners as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registration number 1186038. Becoming a registered charity formalises the group’s Constitution and the responsibilities of the Trustees. Registration as a charity also allows the group to apply for funds from a greater number of Trust Funds.
September 2019
Dear neighbour,
In November 2017 a group of Lyme Green residents who were interested in restoring Robin Lane Park circulated a questionnaire to all local households to ask for your views on changes to the park to improve the facilities.
From your feedback and ideas of what you would like to see in the park, a plan was developed, a copy of which is on our web site and on display in Lindrum Ave bus shelter.
Since then the group of residents have, with your help, raised money through local events for children and have been applying for funds for equipment and landscaping in the park.
Exciting news.
Successful applications for funds have been made to:
· Sutton Parish Council
· New Homes Bonus Fund (Cheshire East Council)
· Sport England-Community Asset Fund
· The National Lottery Community Fund
Funds are also being sought for the play area for children which we hope to secure in the near future.
Work on the park will begin in the next few months and we hope that everyone will be pleased with the improvements to the park.
If you would like more information please contact the residents group at:
Thanks.
